What is an FFL?

An "FFL" is a Federal Firearm License. There are currently over 58,000 FFL holders nationwide. FFL holders are commonly gun stores, pawn shops, and retail sporting goods stores. However, there are also many individuals that hold an FFL. All firearms sold to individuals online must be shipped to a local FFL holder who will then transfer the firearm (via ATF form 4473 and associated background check) to the individual.

Transferring Your Firearm

When you arrive at your chosen FFL dealer, INSPECT THE FIREARM THOROUGHLY BEFORE YOU BEGIN THE TRANSFER PROCESS. Once the transfer process is complete, the gun is yours and may not be returned to PrimeShooting.com.

If upon inspection you see that the gun is defective, leave the gun with the dealer and contact us as soon as possible, preferably before you leave the dealer. We will work with the dealer to have the firearm returned to PrimeShooting.com at no cost to you or the dealer.

If you wish to proceed with the transfer, follow the dealer's instructions for completing Firearms Transaction Record (Form 4473).

Wait a few minutes while the dealer calls in the FBI background check. If you pass the background check, follow the dealer's instructions for completing the transfer.

If you live in a state that requires a waiting period before you can take possession of the gun, the waiting period begins after you pass the background check. If you live in a state that does not require a waiting period, you may take your new gun home with you.

How do I provide my local FFL's information to you?

To provide us with your local FFL's info and license, you can simply go to our 'Contact Us' page and choose the 'Submit FFL' option. Complete the Google Form with all of the required information including a digital copy of the FFL and submit. Please communicate with your chosen FFL prior to completing your purchase with us. You will want to ask for their approval of the transfer as well as their transfer fee. If you do not have a digital copy of your FFL, you can ask your FFL holder to email us a copy of their license to [email protected]. When doing this, please make sure to give your FFL holder your name, the model of the firearm you've purchased, and your order number to ensure that your FFL receives the correct order for you.

What is the average FFL Transfer Fee?

Although the transfer fee varies widely among the +58,000 FFL holders nationwide, the average fee tends to be around $25. For their exact transfer fee, please contact your chosen FFL directly.

Can I transfer a firearm purchase to Prime Shooting?

Yes! Prime Shooting is an FFL holder and we do accept transfers. Our transfer fee is $25. Please call or email us to schedule an appointment to pick up your firearm.

Why does my new gun look like it has been used?

Many new firearms are test fired at the factory. You may notice residual powder, rotation marks on revolver cylinders, residual cosmoline which sometimes appears to look like rust, etc. All firearms sold as "new" are in fact new in box as received from the manufacturer or distributor and include new manufacturers warranty....no exceptions. Any used, factory refurbished, refurbished pre-owned, show guns, or guns in any other condition than new in box will be clearly marked as such on the website.

What's your return policy?

Our requirements for processing a return are as follows:

1. Firearms - It is solely the customers responsibility to thoroughly inspect the firearm(s) at the FFL prior to accepting the transfer. If there is a noticeable defect of any kind to the firearm, please simply refuse the transfer and email us a list of the defects found and we will arrange to have the firearm returned to us. The firearm will be inspected for said defects upon arrival to our shop. If we accept the mentioned defects, you will receive a full refund. If we do not accept the defects, you will receive a partial refund (We will refund your total minus the shipping costs and any fees that we have incurred). IMPORTANT: If the customer accepts the transfer from the FFL, we can then only refer the customer to the manufacturer for warranty consideration.

2. Ammunition - ABSOLUTELY NO RETURNS.

3. Accessories - ALL accessories found to be defective immediately upon receipt, must be returned to Prime Shooting in TX for refund or replacement. Please contact us and we will immediately arrange for a prepaid UPS label to be emailed to you for the return of the defective item at our expense. If returned items are not found to be defective upon arrival to our shop, you will only receive a partial refund (We will refund your total minus the shipping costs and any fees that we have incurred).

How do I know if I can legally purchase a firearm?

Before you're able to take possession of your firearm from your dealer you'll be required to pass a background check. This is a fairly simple process. You'll fill out the required ATF 4473 form and your dealer will either call or electronically submit the information to FBI NICS. Typically, your dealer will receive one of the following responses - approved, delayed, or denied. Please check your state and local regulations as well, several states/locals have additional requirements.

Do you take cash?

If you are local and wish to pay with cash, just email us at [email protected] or call us at 817-382-2173 and tell us the items you want to purchase and we will schedule a time for you to come out to pick up and pay for your items.
